While executing a wizard action, the ui displays an error: “Task <task name> did not complete in a timely manner” or some message to that effect.
This issue mostly crops up in public cloud environments, particularly in small or weak instances where interactive processes may slow down.
Such messages indicate that the Zend Server UI has timed out while waiting for a task to complete. Such errors are vague in that they do not indicate if the task itself is being executed or simply failed.
As a general rule, it is best to wait a while and then attempt to refresh the Zend Server UI to see if the process completed.
At times, simply waiting for a while and then refreshing the UI can resolve the issue - the task executed and completed after the UI timed out.
There are, however, cases when the task actually failed to execute for some reason and Zend Server was unable to recover from the error. This can be due to a local issue or in some rare cases an unaddressed bug in Zend Server.
If waiting does not solve the problem, you should check the Zend Server logs (Overview -> Logs), particularly the php.log, zend_server_ui.log and the zsd.log files. Errors in these files may give you or your support contact some clues as to what is going on under the hood.
If you are unable to resolve the issue on your own, contact Zend Support open a support ticket.
